The Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute is pleased to announce the call for applications for our twelfth annual Summer Internship Program. The program aims to provide interns with experience at the intersection of policy and programs to create equitable systemic changes so all people in Texas, the nation, and the world can obtain the health care they need.
This summer, internship opportunities are available in the following teams for qualified candidates:
- Data & Research Analysis
- Health Systems Integration
- Chief Medical Officer Office
- Solutions Office
- Paso del Norte Center (opportunity for hybrid remote/in-person if located in El Paso, Texas)
- Adult Systems of Care
- Communications Team
- Health and Public Safety Team
- Policy Team
- The Hackett Center
The summer internship runs from June 1, 2026, to August 14, 2026, and will be conducted remotely, with some positions offering in-person opportunities regionally. Interns must make a full-time, 10-week commitment to maximize their exposure to the Meadows Institute’s work and enhance their professional development. It is not feasible for interns to concurrently hold another full-time position.
Application Materials will be accepted until February 20, 2026, at 12 pm CST.
- Students who are either currently enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program, or individuals with a bachelor’s degree with at least two years of professional work experience, are encouraged to apply.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues. This includes overcoming geographic and other potential barriers to communicating with and making contributions to the team’s work.
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Capacity to think strategically, critically, and respond analytically.
- Flexibility in working with new issues, topics, and approaches.
Eligibility Requirements:
Relocation assistance is not available. Successful candidates must show proof of eligibility to work in the United States. The internship position is not eligible for benefits. The anticipated compensation range for the internship program is $18 -$24/hour depending on levels of experience and education.
